From scott at 4th.com Fri Jun 15 22:01:57 2007 From: scott at 4th.com (Scott Courtney) Date: Fri, 15 Jun 2007 22:01:57 -0400 Subject: [Announce] Server back online after protracted outage today Message-ID: <200706152201.57556.scott@4th.com> I am currently so angry I could bite nails in two (not at any of you). My server has had excellent uptime for the past three years, but this morning at 3:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern it rolled over and died due to a hardware failure. This sort of thing happens with any computer. What has me angry is that the upstream hosting provider, who was supposed to either repair or replace the failed hardware, allowed this to continue for over TWELVE HOURS after I called in the problem at 7:30 this morning. It's back online now, at least mostly. There are some small issues to which I need to attend. But if you're reading this, then email is fully online. I'm going to be seeking financial compensation from the provider, because this was utterly unacceptable. I apologize to any of you who tried to post to the email lists today. If you tried to do so today, and it was "deferred" or "delayed", please wait a bit before trying again, as your sending server will probably deliver the mail later tonight. Again, I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience.
